Although these visas are classified as 'off-shore' the applicant can be in Australia at time of application. However, they must be out of Australia at time of grant.

Skilled – Independent (Migrant) Visa (Subclass 175)

This is a permanent visa for people with an occupation listed on the Skilled Occupation List (SOL).  Applicants are not sponsored and must pass a points test. There are processing priorities given to some occupations.

Applicants must be either sponsored by an eligible relative living in Australia or nominated by a participating State or Territory government. If they undertake the latter they receive points for this that are calculated towards thier final score.

This is a three (3) year provisional residence visa for people who can meet the lower pass mark required for this visa. Applicants must be either sponsored by an eligible relative living in a designated area of Australia or nominated by a participating state/territory government if their occupation is on that particular State list.

After living for two (2) years and working for at least one (1) year in a Specified Regional Area determined by the conditions of their sponsorship or nomination, applicants can apply for a permanent residence visa.

Skilled – Recognised Graduate (Temporary) Visa (Subclass 476)
