For many visa applications a pre-requisite is for the main applicant to have their skills assessed by the relevant assessing body and deemed suitable for migration to Australia. These organisations are appointed by the government and have the expertise necessary to recognise whether or not an applicant's skills and qualifications match the equivalent Australian standard. They are not immigration and as such do not determine the outcome of the visa application. A successful assessment does not mean a successful visa application.
In some assessments the applicant actually does a practical test or examination but in many the assessment is based on paper qualifications received as a result of an apprenticeship, internship and education.
For more information regarding your particular situation you should contact our office and speak to a migration agent. This is a critical part of any visa application and if not completed successfully will prohibit you from actaully applying for your Australian visa.
