Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS)
This visa is a permanent residence visa for skilled workers.
The Subclass 186 allows you to work in Australia under one of three streams:
Direct Entry Stream
The applicant does not hold a 457 visa, or has not worked with the sponsoring employer for two years. This stream also applies to those overseas.
Temporary Residence Transition Stream
The applicant holds a Subclass 457 visa and has worked for sponsoring employer for at least two years and the employer is able to offer a permanent position.
The Agreements Stream
Applicants are sponsored via labour agreement.
Under the permanent residence Subclass 186 Visa the employee is responsible for their own welfare.
To qualify for this Visa scheme the employer must pay an above award salary plus superannuation and offer the employee a 3 year contract of full time work. The occupation being nominated must be a highly skilled occupation that is listed on the Consolidated Sponsor Occupation List (CSOL).
The applicant must have a suitable skill level of at least an Australian Diploma, be under 50 years of age and speak English to an acceptable level.
The Subclass 186 Visa is a two stage process:
Employer nominates the position that has to be filled.
Prospective employee applies for the visa to enable them to take up the nominated position.
