Anyone wishing to enter Australia on a temporary or permanent basis is required to be of good character.
In order for the Australian Government to determine this, you may be asked to provide a police certificate from a country you have resided in for a specific period. Any prior convictions must be declared upon your application.
The DIBP may also request a character reference (Form 80) to satisfy the character requirements criteria. Unless otherwise advised by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection, police certificates are only required for persons over the age of 16 years.
Further information on obtaining police clearances is available on the website of the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP).
