INTRO TO VISA

This is more widely known as the Fiancé Visa and allows a sponsor who is engaged to an overseas applicant to sponsor that applicant into Australia as their Fiancé. The applicant and sponsor must have the intention to marry and live together in a long term committed relationship.

ABOUT THIS VISA

This visa is granted for 9 months from the date of first entry. The applicant will be required to enter Australia by a certain date, marry the sponsor and lodge a Subclass 820 prior to the expiry of the 9 month period.

The applicant and sponsor will be required to show that they are capable for getting married, not currently married to anyone else or have finalised their divorce.  They must also show that they are 18 years or older and that they have a clear health and medical record.

AFTER GRANT

The initial entry is required within 9 months of the visa being granted. The applicant can enter and exit Australia multiple times following the grant of the visa but must make their first entry by the date specified on the grant notification. Full work and study rights are granted on the visa. The applicant must marry the sponsor and lodge the Subclass 820 Partner visa within 9 month.
