INTRO TO VISA

This is a short term or long term tourist or visitor’s visa used by tourists or family members of Australian residents to visit Australia temporarily.  Holders of this visa are not allowed to work, have limited study rights and must have health insurance in place. These visas are tailored to suit the purposes of the visitor or tourist

ABOUT THIS VISA

There are 6 streams included in this visa Subclass namely:

TOURIST STREAM ONSHORE

  • This visa can be applied for onshore and can be granted for a stay of up to 12 months for the purposes of visiting family, cruising or having a holiday in Australia;

TOURIST STREAM OFFSHORE

  • This visa allows you to apply for a tourist visa while offshore and allows for you to visit, cruise and holiday in Australia once granted. This can be granted for up to 12 months;

SPONSORED FAMILY STREAM

  • This visa allows family members of Australia residents to be sponsored to visit with their family in Australia.  This visa can be granted for up to 12 months and the sponsor is required to pay a security bond

BUSINESS VISITOR STREAM

  • This visa allows applicants to enter Australia for business purposes with a stay of up to 3 months;

APPROVED DESTINATIONS STREAM

  • This visa is used for citizens from certain areas of China to enter Australia as part of an organized tour.  The period of stay is that specified for the tour

FREQUENT TRAVELLER STREAM

  • This visa is for citizens of China who are frequents travellers to Australia for family visits or business reasons. This visa can be granted for up to 10 years with a 3 months stay allowed on each entry.

The applicants must show that they have sufficient funds to support their stay in Australia and must abide by the rules of their visa during their stay in Australia.

AFTER GRANT

The visa holder is entitled to visit Australia for a short term only.  This visa allows travel to and around Australia but has no work rights and very limited study rights.  The visa has rules on each stream that must be adhered to and the applicant must maintain their own health and travel insurance. The visa holder must department Australia prior to the visa stay expiring.
